March 2010 – Department Manager Meeting Minutes

March 24, 2010

Attendance: Kim Carlson, Deb Wright, Kris Bombard, Bill Kellogg, Myrna Sampson, Fran Kacon, Sue Belford, Ellen Ryan, Chris Kimbler, Dawn Plested, Karen Renaud, Diane Bankers, Pat Runquist, Jo DeFeyter

Hospital Board/Financial Update/Chris Kimbler

  • Kit Friedemann, hospital attorney, Dr. Robert Wieland, Allina Medical Clinics, Kanabec county commissioners and the Assistant County Attorney were present at the meeting to discuss the Allina relationship. Moving forward with a very positive outcome.
  • Chris Kimbler reviewed the financials for February.

Marketing Update/Dawn Plested

  • Discussion was held on a tentative timeline of events that will occur after an agreement is reached between Allina and the hospital. Managers were asked to get information to Dawn regarding issues that will need attention.

Other

  • Sue Belford discussed the change that will be occurring within the Admitting department regarding Admitting hours/shifts.
  • Hospital newsletter will be sent out the end of March.
  • The suggestion boxes have been evaluated and it has been decided start using two separate ones, one will be available for patients/visitors, and one for employees. The employee suggestion box will be located near the dining room. In an effort to provide feedback, employees will be asked to submit their name with their suggestion.
  • Policy and procedure committee reviewed results from 2009 and there were 12 new policies added, 489 revised and 234 deleted. They are continuing to review policies in addition to reviewing forms for 2010.
  • Summer healthcare internship program was discussed.
  • Community weight loss program is at the ½ way point with good results from the 20 participants.
  • Termination checklist for employees has been updated – managers are also reminded to complete the list when employees/students/interns are no longer employed.
  • Departments are to send 2010 green team goals to Mike Dahlheim. We continue to work towards LEED and Energy Star certification.
  • Discussion on food/drink in areas of the hospital. There should not be food/drink in patient care areas.
