Annual Benefits Information & Enrollment for 2018

Employee Benefits-2018
2018 Rates Spreadsheet
2018 FirstLight Health System Benefit Guide

Insurance renewal options are reviewed annually and the premiums are based on the previous years’ experience.  We review this information with our broker and evaluate if any changes are necessary for the next year.  Our current insurance carrier is CCStpa (a BCBS product) and we received the renewal options for 2018.  We have had very high utilization this past year, which caused the proposal to indicate a significant increase to the rates.  The original quote was for a nearly 35% increase.  We asked our broker to negotiate again and it came back a little lower, however, it was still a significant increase.

We asked our broker to go out and request bids from other carriers. Those bids were reviewed and a decision was made to change our insurance carrier.  The proposal from Medica provided competitive rates and offered the ability to mirror our current plan structure.  We were able to lock into the Medica plan keeping our current structure of plans – the standard $1000/$3000 and the 3 HSA plans.  Employees will not see any change to their plans, where they receive care or who they use as their primary care provider.

Below is the 2018 overview of benefits, along with the 2018 spreadsheet which compares the 2017 & 2018 rates.  We are working on getting the benefit booklet out as soon as possible, these will be emailed out to you as soon as we receive them.

Please remember that you WILL need to set up a meeting time with the benefits counselors to enroll into health, dental, life, long term disability, HSA (health savings accounts) and dependent care.  Slots are still available, information is below!   If you are unable to attend a meeting we will be sending out call center information on the November 17th

Please contact Human Resources if you have any questions or concerns regarding this information.

In our pursuit to help you understand the great benefits offered at FirstLight, this year we are excited to implement a new process for open enrollment.  All benefits will be enrolled on a new Benefits Administration System which will allow us to eliminate the paper enrollment forms.  Benefit Counselors from a local Enrollment Firm affiliated with UNUM, our Life and Disability carrier, will be meeting individually with you at various FirstLight locations to introduce you to the new enrollment platform and answer questions you may have on any of your benefit options.  For this open enrollment, all employees will need to re-elect and/or waive all benefits.  You will be scheduled in 30 minute time periods.  Spouses are able to attend with you.

During your Annual Open Enrollment Period you will:

  • Review the benefits you currently were enrolled in for 2017
  • Evaluate your benefit programs offered through FirstLight for 2018
  • Add, delete or change coverage for yourself and your dependents
  • Update beneficiary information
  • Verify dependent eligibility

Please plan to bring the following information to your benefits enrollment meeting:

  • Full Names of all dependents you plan to enroll in FirstLight’s benefits
  • Dates of Birth for all dependents you plan to enroll
  • Social Security numbers for all dependents you plan to enroll
  • Beneficiary information:  Name, Date of Birth, Address

Below are the links for the 3 locations. If you click on the link below, by location, then you will be given the times/dates and location.  Please note the dates and location are on the top of the page once you open the link(s) below.  If you click on the iCal icon to the left of the Slot Me button the time will be add it to your Outlook Calendar.  You will also receive a confirmation email once you select your time.  Below are the links:
